Santos FC plans to build a metaverse with custom gears and stadium

Santos FC will expand its fan token offerings by entering a Web3 gaming environment with NFTs and a metaverse. The Santos Fan Token (SANTOS) was introduced in late 2021. Santos was famously the club at which the footballing great Pelé spent most of his career.

According to a TOPGOAL press release and a Livecoins story, the football club is the first to collaborate with the metaverse gaming firm TOPGOAL and Binance’s fan token arm.

“This collaboration marks TOPGOAL’s first football club to onboard Web3 Gaming. The partnership is expected to enhance the utility of the Santos Fan Token by jointly developing a Football Meta Club and Footballcraft, as well as the sale of Santos FC branded NFTs on the Binance NFT marketplace.”

Its creators claim that it is a “virtual football world” that is “akin to The Sandbox” and has “x12” temporal acceleration. SANTOS, according to the company, would be integrated into TOPGOAL Footballcraft in the third quarter of 2023. The company also stated that FC Santos fans could play TopManager, the world’s “first Web3 3D football game.”

To promote its new product, Santos FC announced on its website that it had formed a relationship with the company TOPGOAL. While the firm claims that the new game has a cooperation with the Binance Fan Token, Livecoins, the latter denies any connection with the crypto giant. In any case, the case appears to have piqued the interest of the project’s investors, who saw the price of $SANTOS soar yet again.

Furthermore, the memo specifies that the solution must include blockchain and artificial intelligence. In the future, the firm should result in new digital experiences for fan token holders. They also aim to generate entertainment for the club and its fans. According to Web3, this is the first step in incorporating Brazil’s football passion into its digital endeavour. The relationship focuses on three primary areas for 2023, the first of which is the integration of Santos Fan Token with TOPGOAL.

The gaming company also stated that it would build a metaverse home for FC Santos, complete with customized gear and a stadium.  Santos can host competitions in the area and reach out to followers through digital initiatives. It is unclear when the parties’ contract will be finalized, but it demonstrates a promising endeavour for fan tokens to gain use cases on Web3.

Multiple football associations have also shown an inclination towards the crypto industry. Alkmaar Zaanstreek also known as AZ was the first professional football team in the Netherlands to pay its team members through Bitcoin. During the Qatar World Cup, Visa, the card issuing company monetized the NFT business. They released a collection “Visa Masters of Movement”. The collection had NFTs of five players and their most memorable goals.
