Four.Meme on BNB Chain Loses $183K in Latest Exploit

The BNB Chain-based memecoin launch platform, Four.Meme, has been targeted by a security breach, leading to a significant loss of funds. On February 11, 2025, the platform confirmed it had fallen victim to a malicious attack, causing a loss of approximately $183,000 worth of digital assets. The exploit specifically targeted the liquidity in meme tokens.

In a tweet, Four.Meme acknowledged the incident, stating, “We are currently experiencing a malicious attack, and our team has intervened immediately to address the issue.” The platform reassured users that its internal funds remain secure and unaffected by the attack.

To address the exploit, Four.Meme has temporarily paused the creation of new liquidity pools while its team works to resolve the situation.

Security Concerns Continue in the Crypto Space

The exploit adds to growing concerns about security within the cryptocurrency industry. Although crypto hacks saw a 44% decline in January 2025 compared to the previous year, the industry still saw over $73 million stolen in that month alone. In 2024, hackers stole a staggering $2.3 billion across 165 incidents, marking a 40% increase over the previous year’s total of $1.69 billion in stolen assets, according to blockchain security firm PeckShield.

Four.Meme Gains Attention Following TST Token Surge

Four.Meme has been in the spotlight recently due to the rapid rise and fall of the Test (TST) token, which was launched on the platform. The TST token briefly reached a market cap of $489 million on February 9, 2025, before plummeting over 50% to its current value of $215 million, according to CoinMarketCap.

The token’s surge was fueled by a brief mention in a BNB Chain tutorial video, where it was revealed as part of a test demonstration. The exposure led to widespread promotion by China-based influencer communities, driving up its market capitalization. Despite the sudden interest, Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao clarified that the video was “not an endorsement” of the token.

The TST token’s rapid price fluctuations sparked criticism of Binance’s token listing process, with Zhao admitting that the exchange’s system had allowed for arbitrage opportunities, leading to poor performance after the token was listed. He acknowledged the listing process was “a bit broken” and emphasized the need for greater transparency in how tokens are evaluated for listing on Binance.

Binance’s Yi He later outlined the platform’s main criteria for listing tokens, including the potential return on investment (ROI), innovation, and the ability to attract new users, as well as the token’s market performance across other exchanges.

The Road Ahead for Four.Meme

As Four.Meme works to recover from the exploit, the incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities that continue to affect the rapidly evolving crypto space. While the platform has halted the creation of new liquidity pools to prevent further issues, it remains to be seen how the incident will impact its reputation and the broader memecoin market on BNB Chain.

With increased scrutiny on crypto projects and exchanges in the wake of this exploit, the need for robust security measures and greater transparency in token listings has never been clearer.
