Mining Suspension: Ore reacts to Solana congestion in anticipation of V2 Launch

Ore, a project on the Solana blockchain, has temporarily halted its mining activities in response to network congestion issues.

According to statements made by Ore developer Hardhat Chad on social media, the decision to pause mining operations aims to address the recent congestion on Solana, which has been exacerbated by the rapid adoption of the Ore protocol.

“I have decided to pause all mining, effective immediately. I believe this action to be in the best interests of Solana, Ore holders, and the fastest path forward to v2,” announced Hardhat Chad.

Ore’s Impact on Solana Traffic
Introduced just two weeks ago during a hackathon as an experimental initiative, Ore has quickly become the most actively used program on the Solana network based on transaction count.

Hardhat Chad highlighted that Ore has generated more network traffic on Solana’s mainnet than any other smart contract in blockchain history, underscoring its significant impact on network activity.

“With this demonstration now behind us, I believe it’s appropriate we turn to optimizing the system for v2,” said Hardhat Chad.

Focus on Version 2 Improvements
The suspension of mining operations allows developers to analyze data, assemble a team, and focus efforts on refining Version 2 of the Ore protocol.

“The v2 contract will aim to address three primary issues in the current system,” stated Hardhat Chad. These issues include inefficiencies in the code, the lack of structural incentives for token holders, and the need for more unbiased difficulty changes.

Hardhat Chad assured users that there is no deadline for claiming rewards, and all existing Ore tokens will be eligible for a one-for-one upgrade to the new Version 2 tokens. More details about Version 2 will be shared in the coming weeks.
